How Sleek Wardrobe Saved My Life 1. A good pair of jeans I've been wearing the same pair of jeans since I was 15 years old. They're comfortable, they fit well, and they look great. But what's not to love about them? Well, let me tell you...they're expensive! I'm talking $100+ per pair here. And I don't even own any designer labels. So how did I get away with this for so long? Simple - I had my wardrobe downsized. When I started working at a startup company, I realized that I could no longer afford to buy clothes that were only going to sit in my closet collecting dust. So I decided to make some changes. I went shopping for cheaper alternatives and came across these awesome black skinny jeans. I bought two pairs (one for work and one for casual) and have never looked back. Now I'm able to wear the same pair of jeans for months without having to worry about washing them. And best of all, I didn't have to spend a fortune doing it. 2. An affordable blazer When I first moved out of my parents' house, I couldn't afford to buy anything nice. I remember walking around in my pajamas and sweatshirts while everyone else was dressed nicely. I felt so out of place. Then one day, I stumbled upon a thrift store and saw a beautiful navy blue blazer. I knew right then and there that I wanted it. I walked over to the register and paid $10 for it. That blazer changed my life. It gave me confidence and helped me feel more professional. Since then, I've purchased many blazers and jackets from thrift stores and sales. I've learned to shop smartly and find quality items for less money. 3. A versatile top My favorite thing about tops is that they can be worn in so many different ways. I can dress them up or dress them down depending on the occasion. I've worn my tops as dresses, shirts, tunics, and even scarves. One of my favorites is this gorgeous red silk scarf. I got it at a local thrift store for $20. Not only does it add color to my outfit, but it adds texture and dimension. 4. A comfy sweater Sweaters are probably my favorite item in my closet. I love wearing them in the fall and winter months. I especially enjoy layering them under cardigans and sweaters. I recently acquired a few cashmere sweaters that I absolutely adore. I bought them at a local consignment store for $15 each. I know it sounds crazy, but I actually prefer these sweaters to the ones I spent hundreds of dollars on. 5. A stylish purse I always carry a small bag with me wherever I go. It's where I keep my keys, phone, wallet, and other essentials. I use a cross-body bag for this purpose. I love carrying a smaller bag instead of a big handbag because it makes me feel more organized. Plus, I can easily throw it in my car if I need to run errands. I like using a neutral colored bag because it goes with everything. I currently have a brown leather bag that I picked up at a garage sale for $5. 6. A cute hat Hats are a great way to complete an outfit. You can wear them casually or dress them up. I love wearing hats in the summertime. I think they really bring out my eyes. I just bought a couple of fun straw hats at a local thrift shop. I paid $5 for both of them. 7. A chic belt Belts are a simple yet effective accessory. They can be paired with almost any outfit and give off a polished look. I like wearing belts with skirts and dresses because they draw attention to my waistline. I recently bought a silver belt at a local consignment shop for $8.
